The Twins Are Here!

Here is my family of 5! The twins thought about joining us on Monday the 19th. I was checked into the hospital and given drugs to stop the contractions long enough for me to get two steriod injections. Then on Thursday the 22nd we had Timothy Foss Boland and Christopher Edward Boland. Labor went very smoothly and they came only 7 minutes apart. They were born 33 weeks and 6 days into pregnancy which means they both have to spend some time in the NICU. Tim has been a super star and Chris had a few minor issues the first few days but is doing well now. As of yesterday, they are both doing everything on their own except eating.

Fortunately my parents were here when I checked into the hospital for a week. They have been watching Jack and taking care of everything so I didn't have anything else to worry about while I was in the hospital. They have also made it possible for me to spend 4-5 hours a day at the NICU. I don't know what would have happened without them.

July Festivities

July is always a fun month. This year, I have to keep things pretty low key because I get tired and can't walk very far. We still managed to have a lot of fun in the past week!

We went on a moonlight monument cruise with our friends Peter and Riann

We went to Belvoir with Dave's brother and family for fireworks on the 4th. It was actually a really good show!

Twins Update

I am 31 weeks pregnant now. Everything is going well although I'm really starting to slow down. The babies are almost 4 pounds now, head down, and no sign of any complications. Until now, I have been going 3 times a month to the doctors at the Natinoal Naval Medical Center (Bethesda). Next week, I start going in 3 times a week until I deliver. It will be a lot of driving, but it's nice to have good care.

My parents sent Jack a little motor cycle. Jack calls it a "car" and as you can see he is very excited about it :)

Best BBQ Ever

A few weeks ago, me and my friends Laurel and Allison (also pregnant) were invited to a bbq hosted by our husbands to "celebrate our awesomeness". We were all very touched and thought it would be fun. We got there and the guys had all kinds of wonderful food for us! What they didn't tell us was they had a spa company come to the house to give us all manicures and pedicures while the guys watched our kids. It was soooooo wonderful. I have a great husband, that's for sure :)

Beach Fun!

We went to Virginia Beach this past weekend. We almost didn't go because it was supposed to rain all weekend. Figuring that this was out last chance to get out of town before the twins are born (and who knows how long after), we went anyway. We got lucky! It was bright and sunny on two of the three days and just overcast on the other day.

Mother's Day Outing

I had a lovely Mother's Day. We packed a picnic lunch and went up to the Great Falls. It's a national park with all kinds of trails and scenic overlooks. I would love to go back again when I'm not pregnant and do some hiking!
